casual chic : 4 tips on wearing a blazer

Blazers are the perfect layer to add to create a more professional, polished look. I love wearing them in the office as well as dressing them down, like I did here, for a more casual street look. Here are a few pointers to consider when dressing your blazer down for a night out with friends or a day shopping. 

1. Pair it with a pair of distressed denim. 

This is key to dressing your blazer down. The blazer has crisp, tailored lines giving it a very professional and polished form. I love contrasting it with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. The two couldn't be more opposite and I love the way they compliment each other. 

2. Layer it over a thin soft tee. 

In order to keep the focal point of your outfit the tailored blazer, wear a neutral tee underneath. I chose white because it's such simple color that doesn't beg for any attention. Feel free to tuck the front of your shirt into your jeans. 

3. Cuff the sleeves a couple times. 

Cuffing the sleeves will break up the crisp lines in your blazer to give it a more relaxed look. This is a perfect pull to draw in the same style as your distressed denim. 

4. Add a feminine touch. 

There's a few ways you can do this. Here, I completed my outfit with pair of these low kitten heels, a gold watch, and a slouchy purse. There's tons of options to make this look yours. You can wear your signature lipstick, a chunky necklace, or your favorite purse.
